Apple estimates that iPhone will be more compatible with third-party displays and batteries by the end of 2024.

Officially, Apple released a white paper outlining the company's policies on device repairability and durability, in which it revealed that the iPhone will "better support third-party displays and batteries" later in 2024.

First, Apple said that True Tone will be compatible with third-party iPhone displays later this year:

The True Tone feature requires calibration to work properly, and since it is not possible to set a default calibration for third-party displays, this may cause unexpected situations. Therefore, when using a third-party display, the True Tone feature is disabled by default, but other features of the display can be used normally.

In order to more fully support third-party accessories, starting later in 2024, Apple will allow consumers to activate the True Tone display when using third-party parts for optimal performance. If the display effect is not good, users can turn off the True Tone display in the settings.

Second, Apple said that later this year, battery health data (ZY note: mainly Maximum Capacity and Number of Cycles) will be compatible with third-party batteries:

Currently, devices using third-party batteries cannot display battery health data to users, such as maximum capacity and number of cycles. This is because Apple cannot verify the accuracy of this data. In fact, an internal Apple analysis found that some third-party batteries advertised as brand new were actually refurbished, and the battery health data was tampered with to look like brand new.

To improve support for third-party batteries, starting later in 2024, Apple will display battery health data and will remind users that the information has not been verified by Apple.
